BASKETBALL
Basketball is also a popular sport, and is played widely in colleges. The college tournament each March (called "March Madness"), which starts with 64 teams and goes on all month, is followed with excitement nationwide. Professional basketball is also very popular, and ends with an elaborate series of tournaments each May. Professional Basketball stars are among the highest paid of all American athletes, often making many times their basketball salaries by endorsing athletic shoes and other products. In many areas of the country, high school basketball has a fanatical following.
